Other than 2007 (broken ribs) and 2020 (canceled), I've attended every Nationals since 2004's event at Park City. I've gotten to know a lot of really cool folks from around the country and look forward to meeting new friends each year. Our oldest grandsons live in Calgary and have never failed to make the podium but are faced with travel restrictions this year. Chief fan, photographer, and sherpa Grandma Penny is taking a year off. I'm rooming with Jim Remy, Past President of the PGA of America and President of the Ryder Cup and 4-time NASTAR National Champion Rob Dexter. All three of us will be racing in the Platinum Division and I'll also be in that division in Snowboarding.
Because of the challenging conditions resulting from COVID 19, NASTAR is modifying the format quite a bit this year. All Bronze racers will be compete on Tuesday, Silver on Wednesday, Gold on Thursday and Platinum on Friday. The top 32 men and women regardless of age will compete in a head-to-head format the next day. The racers will get the green light based on the differences in their handicaps The winner of each heat moves on to the next one.
